Southern
California University-SOMA accepts students of good standing who
wish to transfer from other schools. Transfer students must meet
the admissions requirements of the University and follow the same
application procedure as new students to be admitted. Students
are required to seek transfer credit evaluation at the time of
admission or at least within their first quarter of enrollment.
No transfer credit evaluation can take place unless the School
receives all official transcripts and transcript evaluations.
In addition, no transfer credit is granted for prior experiential
learning. The entire record of evaluation and award of student’s
transfer credit is kept in the student’s academic file.
The courses for which transfer credit are awarded is marked as
"TC", meaning "Transfer Credit".
School’s Transfer Credit Policies are as follows:
- Up to 100% transfer credit may be awarded for course work
and clinical instruction completed successfully at another acupuncture
school or college which is approved by the California Acupuncture
Board or accredited by a national accrediting agency recognized
by the U.S. Department of Education.
- Up to 100 % transfer credit may be awarded for courses completed
successfully in biology, chemistry, physics, psychology, anatomy,
physiology, pathology, nutrition and vitamins, history of medicine,
medical terminology, clinical science, clinical medicine, Western
pharmacology, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, practice management,
and ethics at a school which is approved under Article 4 (commencing
with Section 94760) of Chapter 7 of Part 59 of the Education
Code or by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department
of Education. However, Grade of “D” or less is not
accepted by the University.
- Only credits from accredited or approved schools may be tradnsfered.
- The minimum residence requirement to graduate from Southern
California University-SOMA is 45-quarter units (one academic
year) for classroom courses.
- No transfer credit can be given to the very course works
used to meet the admission requirements (60 semester units or
90 quarter units) or credits received from another the University
after the student is admitted to Southern California University-SOMA
unless a prior written approval is obtained from the Academic
Dean.
- In case when any credit is awarded for clinical training,
the curriculum shall include satisfactory clinical instruction,
75 % of which shall be in a clinic, which is owned and operated
by the training program.
